I have a Campbell Hausfeld Airless paint sprayer. I bought it 11 years ago for a project that never happened. So it is still 'new'. It is a 0.33 gpm unit. I wanted to do a spray job today and it does not work. It will not prime. I tried putting water directly into the inlet and manually operating the inlet valve and still no joy. So I took the lid off the top of the pump to see what is inside. It is an eccentric bearing cam driving the pump. No oil present - not sure if that is right. I then removed the pump block - held on by four SHCS's. It does contain some oil. Not much to see here either. I could putter around with this, but I thought I would ask for help from someone who knows about these machines.

Over time, the shipping oil, or grease, will
jell-up and harden as it ages, blocking up any
oriffice. Try cleaning with Varsol (paint thinner)
and check the seals also, they may have cracked
with age. - Titanium

I can clean it out - but I am not sure what type of oil is used in these machines. After cleaning, I will need to replace the oil. Any suggestions?

Here is what I found out about Campbell Hausfeld airless machines. The 'oil' is a non foaming hydraulic fluid. The recommended item is Johnsen's hydraulic jack oil. My diaphram turned out to be bad as well. After refill with oil and a diaphram replacement - all is well. Only cost me a day.

Congratulations!
Sometimes, it helps one to talk or write it out
to help one think a little clearer. Job well
done. Try not to let it sit so long next time.
